Mirror..mirror.. On the wall.

All of us must have heard of this fairy—tale query from “Snow White”:
’Mirror, mirror on the wall,

Who’s the fairest of all’?

Well! For a change..shall we try asking the same mirror, who is a true Human being among all:

The world is our mirror. The good that we find in others, is in us too.. and the faults that we find in others are our faults as well!

Coming to think of it, if we give to others, we actually give to ourselves.

Coz….
*When we appreciate beauty we too become beautiful.

*When we admire creativity, we too tend to be creative.

*When we love we are in turn loved.

* When we seek to understand, we get understood in the bargain.

*When we listen, our voice is also heard.

*When we teach, we learn as well….

..So, ultimately when we start seeing the best in others, the best in us also being seen by others!!

So..Come let the journey begin!

May be our destination seems a little too far; nevertheless....we are destined to reach the destination of being a great human!!!!!

Mirror mirror on the wall....

What do you say????

The story of the Twin Poets.. The twin poets..ardent devotees of the 'Vagdevi' poured their woes to the Goddess ..tears bordering their cheeks....the next day had dawned. The brothers wondered why the day had ever dawned..in a few minutes they would be summoned before the Chozha King..and what would be the consequences..????--all this kept running in their minds!!!!

Pure devotion may not have it's effects immediately..but surely in the long run it stands in good stead during a crisis:
Pennaiyaaru in those days was a fertile river surrounded by verdant greenery..not just that, it also shared 'Divine Limelight'..thanks to the THIRUVAMAATHUR Shivan temple located on it's banks!!

Two brothers who were known for their mastery in poetry--'Rettai Pulavargal' {Twin Poets}were on a pilgrimage to various Shivan temples....finally reached  the Thirumavamaathur Sthalam!

On seeing the Charismatic, serene countenance of Lord Shiva, the twin poets were literally in tears ..as if the 'Piraisoodan' (the Lord who wears the Moon in His Head) had been waiting for them!!!!
With the passing of time, the local people..along with the courtesans from the Chozha King's court started thronging the temple premises!

In the overwhelming devotional pursuit ..the 'Twin Poets' started compiling verse after verse....
--one of the verses carried the geographical location of the Shrine ..as situated on the upper banks of  the river Pennaiyaaru!!!

..while..in reality, the Shrine was actually located in the lower banks!!

The Chieftain among the courtesans got wild at this blunder ordered his soldiers to bring the 'pulavargal' to the palace; The twin poets, who were taken to the palace were ordered to wait for the King's return from his voyage..he was expected to be there the next morning.

However, they refused to give up their stand; they firmly believed and told the the Chozha King thus:-
"Engal Naavil Ulla Naamagal Puranchollal"!!
{ The Vagdevi who resides in our tongues will not utter a lie"!!}

And what a conviction they had..for their words i.e. the words of the Vagdevi who resides in their tongues came out to be TRUE:
..the Pennaiyaaru river had changed it's course of flow owing to heavy showers and consequential floods the previous night!!!!!

Even today you can see the  THIRUVAMAATHUR Shivan temple 'seated' happily on the upper bank of river Pennaiyaaru.

Doesn't this clearly show that Saraswathima would do anything to save Her devotees from a crisis?!?!!

How To Embrace Her!!..

SARASWATHI MA..
Where could I see You????

Hm....in the 'Chandra mandalam' .. the 'Surya Mandalam'?!

They say You are embedded within the infinite stars in the
celestial sky..??

They say You live only in the tongues of  learned Scholars..!

Some vouch for the fact ..that You can be accessible only if you
recite the Vedas..without fail, the Goddess in Her abode will
respond to you immediately!!"

...ha..ha..ha..ha!!
How naive there....
humbug ...humbug!!!

*ONE CAN SEE HER RESIDING IN THE INNOCENT
SMILE OF A CHILD,

**ONE CAN FEEL HER IN EACH AND EVERY NERVE OF
HER ARDENT DEVOTEE,

***ONE CAN HEAR HER IN EVERY NOTE OF A MELODY
SUNG,

****ONE CAN EVEN TOUCH AND 'RELISH' HER IN PURE
GESTURES,

*****ONE CAN BE WITH HER IF WE LOVE HER WITH ALL
OUR HEART!!!!!

'My Cutie-Pies'!!

I am the Mother of 24 loving kids!!!

Wondering??**--Yeah! I am talking about those irresistible kids for whom,
 I am the Class-teacher! :

·             Funny and mischievous…

·             Cute & Ravishing ‘Silent-Killers’…

·             Sometimes annoying…

·             Sometimes make one go crazy!!?!

·             Caring…when I’m low and dejected; -they would never leave me until I break into peals of laughter, with their ‘kadi jokes’!

·             Soft—Hearted… (Except that they tend to go barbaric, on having a trespasser into their class!!

·             Magnanimous…’coz often they generously ‘sacrifice’ their class-work notes;--until Mrs.Vineeta, the H.M. pulls them for checking!!

·             Tolerant… (?!)—but don’t ask me about their ‘Special Violent Spells’, if someone talks ill about their class!

----All said and done, my children are Adorable.

Now, their valuable comment about me:-
“Ma’am is a grown-up child!

Well! What to do?-Sometimes ‘Motherly Affection’ springs out from such a grown-up child!!!!

Fine! Jokes apart these 24 bubbly, vivacious ‘Cutie-Pies’, have made my stint of teaching career..meaningful.

BAAMATHI

Yet again thanking my Goddess I write about one of her stoic devotees: Vaasasbathi Michrar.

Michrar's only passion, pursuit and penchant in his life....was in penning down verses on the Goddess!!
That evening as usual, when he was giving the final touches to the verses in his manuscript...the lamp's flame-that was placed on his writing-desk-flickered in the strongly blowing-breeze and finally got put-out.

In a few seconds, an old lady appeared with a lamp in her hand. She placed it so carefully..so as to not disturb his thought-flow!!
Michrar was startled and so touched by the lady's act: "Who are you dear lady?? It is so nice of You to have given me a lamp to carry on with my work."

The 'lady' was shocked to hear these words..as she was none other than Baamathi, his wife!

She looked at her husband, Michrar, in a reverential way and uttered these words:-
"Dear Sir, I happen to be your wife, Baamathi....it's been fifty long years since I got married to you..."
At this juncture..Michrar unconsciously touched himself..his hands and face and was surprised to feel the wrinkles of old age;-
"I did not want to even give you the slightest of disturbance..all these years....as you were involved in Divine and Celestial!!!!
I was quietly rendering service to you..as  you were offering your services to the great Goddess of Wisdom, Saraswathima"--said Baamathi to her husband.

Michrar went through a gamut of emotions and  was looking at his wife keenly for the very first time..
He got up from his desk ..and folded his hands in reverence to his wife, Baamathi...who has actually done a greater service to the Goddess than him.

That's how came about the volume, 'BAAMATHI", --an Invocation to the Muse of Learning,-- that Michrar had named after his wife.

....So, meet you again with more of the Goddess' Leelai....next Wednesday.

Pappa Kuttti

Kanamma..YOU're my life, love and ecstasy!!!!! You are the love to me , And I am the magnet to you, You are the holy books of Veda ...
